Tramadol is often called as the “safest drug”, “wonder drug”, or “harmless medicine”; however, the truth is slightly different. Although, claiming Tramadol to be exclusively safe is not wrong but it does have its own drawbacks and faults. Such faults dragged the powerful drug into the list of controlled substances. The medicine is powerful and effective but its negative sides should not be overshadowed. Tramadol has a tendency developing a habit. It makes a person addicted to it. Although the chances of such actions are not very common, they are not completely non-existent.
By the year 2011, the reports of cases of Tramadol addiction and abuse had increased at an alarming rate. The youths were the most common victims of its addiction. Since Tramadol has been claimed to be completely safe, the doctors would prescribe it often and it was available in every store all the time. However, the users of the drug, without realizing, began to develop its addiction. And, the other times, young people would purposely buy Tramadol for recreation. Such activities rose at a high rate in the entire US which alarmed the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Finally, on the 7th of July 2014, the DEA announced that the drug “Tramadol” would be treated as a Controlled Substance. Tramadol was placed into Schedule IV of the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). The new law was finally enforced on the 18th of August, same year. It was also declared that all the forms of the drug Tramadol would come under this schedule.
Since then, having a prescription for a proper and legal medical practitioner has become a compulsory condition of buying Tramadol. No one can purchase the drug without the prescription.
Even though a prescription is compulsory to buy Tramadol, it has not become a problem of online pharmacies as they can provide a virtual prescription to the patient via their own doctors.
However, it should be understood that Tramadol is a controlled drug and it should not be misused as it can cause severe damage to the life of the user.
